What we are Offering
Dig Down South West is offering 50 primary schools across the region their very own organic Rocket Garden to plant. Teachers are encouraged to enter online – during March a draw will take place to choose the lucky winners. Each Rocket Garden will be delivered direct to the school full of baby plants, with full instructions about what to do.
Each garden is designed to be easily planted and harvested within school term times and is delivered from late April onwards. The contents of the garden may change depending on the season but each spring Rocket Garden should contain a selection of the following baby plants:
- Mixture of lettuces x 30
- Dwarf French green beans x 10
- Runner beans x 10
- Beetroot x 10
- Spinach x 10
- Cauliflower x 10
- Cabbage selection x 10
- Courgettes x 4
- Leeks x 20
- Carrots x 20
- Tomatoes x 6
- Strawberries x 6
- Seed potatoes x 10
Each school will also get a big sack of Wormcast 100% organic natural fertiliser which keeps their plants fed and happy as they grow, instructions on planting, growing, and plant spacing, a CD–ROM of Lesson plans, guidance notes and resources for teachers linked to key stages of the national curriculum and stickers and information leaflets for children and parents.
